The Chennai Metrowater Workers’ Union has withdrawn its strike after the management agreed to pay contract workers a Deepavali bonus and resolve other pending demands in a phased manner.
The Union president and former Maduravoyal MLA G. Beem Rao said an agreement was reached to pay a Deepavali bonus of ₹5,800 to contract workers in the presence of Deputy Labour Commissioner, Anna Nagar, Jayalakshmi. Metrowater officials also agreed to hold discussions on the pending demands and resolve them in a phased manner. Earlier, the Union had announced a strike on Tuesday.
