A Mandal Agriculture Officer (MAO) in Sangareddy district was arrested by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday (November 3, 2026) for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 from a complainant in return for ensuring the smooth functioning of a fertiliser business run by the complainant’s son-in-law.

The accused, G. Ramesh, Mandal Agriculture Officer of Sadasivpet mandal, was caught red-handed in his office while accepting the bribe.

The officer had allegedly demanded a total bribe of ₹30,000, of which he had already received ₹10,000 on October 19. The remaining ₹20,000 was accepted on Tuesday and subsequently recovered from his possession by the ACB officials.

The ACB said the officer had performed his public duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage. He was arrested and would be produced before the II Additional Special Judge for Trial of SPE and ACB Cases Court in Hyderabad. The case is under investigation.
