Madurai Corporation conducts medical camps at 16 places

Posted on October 26, 2026 By admin

The Corporation on Monday conducted special medical camps at 16 locations across the city for screening the public for fever and other ailments.

The health wing of the Corporation and doctors from the Directorate of Public Health conducted the special camps through the Urban Primary Health Centres as part of measures to contain dengue cases that were rising after the onset of the Northeast monsoon,.

The camps were held at Kannanendal, Reserve Line, Thiruparankundram, Teppakulam, Ellis Nagar, P and T Nagar, South Veli Street and Villapuram, among others, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a total of 726 people benefited.

The doctors also organised mobile clinics between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. in locations where fever complaints were high.

They said that people must keep their surroundings dry and clean. Fresh water facilitated mosquito breeding and, hence, the eco-system should be dry. Also, family members, especially children and elders, must be cautious during the rainy season. They shoud avoid cold items and drink boiled water, as it lessened the chances of infection.

Corporation Commissioner Gaurav Kumar inspected a few camps and urged the people to cooperate with thr civic body in fighting dengue.
