The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday (October 25, 2026) alleged that the BJP government has failed to distribute all textbooks to government school students even after about six months since the academic session began.

Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj asked Education Minister Ashish Sood to disclose whether the contractor supplying the textbooks has been fined under the rule mandating a 5% penalty for every week of delay.

“Is it true that the Education Secretary is refusing to sign the file until a penalty is imposed on the contractor for the late delivery of textbooks? Did the minister call the Education Secretary to his office to discuss this issue?” Mr. Bharadwaj said.

Mr. Bharadwaj said that he talked to students at a school and claimed that they had yet to receive different textbooks. “Class 8 students said they had not yet received Part 2 of their Mathematics textbook. Class 7 students said they were still waiting for Science, Part 2 of Mathematics and Part 2 of Social Studies (SST). Class 6 students said they had not received the Kaushal Bodh textbook, while Class 9 students said they were still waiting for their Social Science textbook,” he said.
