Nearly 400 personnel accused of financial irregularities; govt. action against them underway

Posted on October 25, 2026 By admin

A total of 392 personnel, including 135 at the chief municipal officer level, are under the scanner in Madhya Pradesh for alleged financial irregularities, with seven dismissed from service, a senior government official said on Sunday (October 25, 2026).

Urban Development and Housing Department Additional Chief Secretary Sanjay Dubey told reporters that action had been taken against 146 officials in connection with these irregularities.

“As of now, 392 officers of different ranks, including 135 at the chief municipal officer level, are under investigation or have been investigated. Recoveries have been made from some, increments have been stopped, some have been demoted and others dismissed. Action is being taken in proportion to the irregularities committed by them,” Mr. Dubey said.

He said ₹3-4 crore had been recovered from officials and employees found to have committed irregularities. The ACS’ remarks came in the backdrop of a report on the issue published in a newspaper the previous day.

“Action has also been taken against more than 80 contractors and suppliers who allegedly provided materials or services through improper means or at incorrect rates. The process is continuing,” he added.

The MP government is clear that financial irregularities would not be tolerated and public money must not be misused, Mr. Dubey said.
