Pollachi MP seeks restoration of Coimbatore-Salem MEMU services

Posted on October 24, 2026 By admin

:

Pollachi Constituency Lok Sabha MP K. Eswarasamy on Thursday made a representation to the General Manager of Southern Railway U. Subba Rao, requesting restoration of Coimbatore-Salem MEMU train services (06802 and 06803) with stoppages at Tiruppur and Erode en route.

The MEMU services operated with affordable fares at convenient timings were widely utilised by office-goers, students and economically weaker sections of the society.

The discontinuation has caused considerable hardship, as the travelling public are compelled to rely on alternative modes of transport that involve additional expenditure, the MP said in the representation.

Requests for restoration of the MEMU services have also been made separately by the Podanur Train Users’ Association, and Tamil Nadu Train Users’ Federation.
