The Department of Posts will hold special camps in all post offices from November 1 to enable pensioners to submit digital life certificates through the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB).

In addition, the department will offer doorstep service to submit the certificates in digital format through IPPB. Central/State government pensioners, armed forces pensioners, and Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) pensioners can avail of this service through postal staff who visit their homes.

It is mandatory for pensioners to submit an annual life certificate to ensure the uninterrupted receipt of their pension. To spare pensioners the inconvenience of visiting an office in person to submit the certificate, the department offers the service at the doorstep of pensioners using biometric authentication or the Aadhaar FaceRD application.

For a service fee of ₹70, pensioners can complete the process in a few minutes with the help of local postal staff by providing Aadhaar number, mobile phone number, Pension Payment Order number, and pension account details, followed by biometric authentication.

The issuance of digital life certificates for pensioners of the EPFO and the Department of Telecommunications is completely free of charge, a Department of Posts release said on Friday.
