Satish Reddy, Project Officer, and Raju, Technical Officer, both attached to the PMKSY 2.0 Bhagirathipet project.
Two government officials working on the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) 2.0 project at Bhagirathipet in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday (October 22) for allegedly demanding commissions ranging from 10% to 25% from a contractor for processing pending bills and allotting additional works.
The arrested officials were identified as Satish Reddy, Project Officer, and Raju, Technical Officer, both attached to the PMKSY 2.0 Bhagirathipet project.
According to the ACB, the officials allegedly demanded illegal gratification from a contractor for clearing bills relating to works already executed under the scheme and for allotting further works. The complainant alleged that the officials threatened to withhold pending payments and deny additional contracts unless the demanded commissions were paid.
The investigation revealed that an aggregate amount of ₹39.17 lakh had been transferred to various bank accounts and through UPI transactions allegedly communicated by the two officials.
The complainant furnished bank statements and WhatsApp conversations to substantiate the allegations. The ACB said the financial transactions and electronic records were examined during its verification.
Investigators also found that Satish Reddy had allegedly demanded an additional 25% commission on the amount relating to the seventh bill for recording measurements of further works and processing pending payments.
Based on the complaint and evidence gathered during verification, the ACB’s Warangal Range registered a case against the two officials under Sections 7(a), 7(b) and 13(1)(b), read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
Both officials were arrested and are being produced before the Special Court for SPE and ACB Cases in Warangal for judicial remand.
The ACB said further investigation was under way to examine the alleged illegal payments and the roles of the accused officials.
