AMMK founder T.T.V. Dhinakaran on Sunday criticised the TVK-led government over water stagnation in various parts of Chennai, after heavy rain pounded the city on Saturday night. He said that commuters faced hardships, as many roads were water-logged.

Mr. Dhinakaran charged that precautionary measures were not undertaken even after a weather advisory about heavy rain in Chennai was received in advance. He said that Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay should realise that only precautionary measures would protect people from the impact of heavy rain.

The AMMK founder urged the government to undertake precautionary measures by locating vulnerable areas and necessary preparatory measures on war footing in the next few days.
