Ahead of the local body elections, police department officials have intensified the Cardon and Search operations (CASO) at several villages in Kadapa district. They have warned of legal action against those who violate the election guidelines.

Acting on the orders of SP Shelke Nachiket Vishwanath, a CASO was conducted in Moragudi village, under the jurisdiction of Jammalamadugu Urban Police Station. The officials checked suspicious persons and warned them against engaging in any untoward incidents during the polls.

Subsequently, the police personnel conducted foot patrols in the village to reassure the public about their safety. During vehicle inspections, police seized 17 two-wheelers and five auto-rickshaws lacking proper documentation. They warned that they would maintain constant surveillance.

Under the supervision of Pulivendula DSP B. Murali, police officials conducted CASO and foot patrolling in Chinna Rangapuram, Velamavaripalli, Venkatapuram, Polepalli (Basireddypalli), and Brahmanapalli villages within Pulivendula Urban limits.

They have monitored the movements of suspicious individuals and raised awareness among the villagers about the elections, urging them to avoid altercations and refrain from actions that could disrupt law and order.

The police warned that pre-emptive measures are being taken to prevent any unlawful activities during the local body elections. They urged the public to cooperate with them in maintaining a peaceful atmosphere in the villages.

Meanwhile, the SP directed the management of hotels, lodges, hostels, homestays, paying guest accommodations, hospitals, educational institutions, religious and charitable organisations, and other accommodation establishments to provide details of foreigners on the designated online portal.

As per the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, the Immigration and Foreigners Rules, 2025, and the Immigration and Foreigners Orders, 2025, all establishments providing accommodation to the Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders must strictly comply with the rules, he said.

“The details must be registered electronically as soon as possible after arrival of a foreign national at the accommodation premises and under no circumstances later than 24 hours from the time accommodation is provided,” Mr. Vishwanath further said.

“As per Section 8 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, submission of Form–III is mandatory. Failure to comply with these rules may attract legal action, including penalty of ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh depending on the nature of the violation and the applicable provisions of law,” he added.

Foreign nationals and OCI cardholders must not engage in unlawful activities such as obtaining identity documents exclusively meant for Indian citizens, registering as voters without being legally eligible, participating in elections in violation of laws, or purchasing agricultural land.
