Police on lookout for gang that hacked youth to death in Mylapore

Posted on October 6, 2026 By admin

The Mylapore police are on the lookout for a three-member gang that hacked to death a youth from Velachery on Veerabadran Street in Mylapore on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Sathyaseelan, 21, of Balaji Nagar. A school dropout, he worked as an air-conditioner mechanic and had lived in Mylapore for three years. The police said Sathyaseelan had a history of substance abuse, and his family had arranged treatment for him at a de-addiction centre. The family had also moved from Mylapore to Velachery.

Sathyaseelan frequently visited his friend Sabari in Mylapore. When he and his friends were on Veerabadran Street on Monday night, three unidentified men arrived on motorcycles, the police said. They allegedly attacked Sathyaseelan him with knives. When he tried to flee, the gang gave chase and assaulted him, leaving his critically injured. The assailants then fled the spot. Sathyaseelan was rushed to the Government Royapettah Hospital, where he died of injuries.

The police have registered a case and formed special teams to identify and arrest the suspects. They are also investigating the motive behind the murder.
