Madurai Kamaraj University College teaching staff on consolidated pay on Thursday staged a sit-in protest on the college premises over the delay in the payment of their salaries.

Teaching staff at the college comprised 19 regular, 80 consolidated pay and 30 guest lecturers and non-teaching staff comprised six permanent, 15 consolidated pay and 15 casual workers.

Teaching staff on consolidated pay boycotted the classes and staged a sit-in protest demanding a white paper on the financial status of the Madurai Kamaraj University College.

The State government’s order regarding salary disbursement had not been implemented, they said, adding that the administration continued to withhold the salaries by claiming a lack of funds. More than 30 teaching staff on consolidated-pay participated in the sit-in protest and urged the administration to fulfil their demands.
