‘He should better visit Bihar’: Minister takes a dig at Chirag Paswan over his remarks against State govt.

The Minister of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department in Bihar Lakhendra Paswan on Tuesday (September 29, 2026) took a dig at Union Minister Chirag Paswan over his recent statement that he feels ashamed of being a part of the government in Bihar.

On September 26, The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader — an alliance partner of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Bihar and the Centre — had attacked the State government over the rising crime against women. Speaking at a private event, Mr. Chirag Paswan referred to the recent molestation cases of minor girls in Jamui, Samastipur, Banka and other districts, and said these incidents brought shame to Bihar.

Reacting to his statement, Minister and BJP leader Lakhendra Paswan indirectly took a potshot at the Union Minister, stating that he rarely visits Bihar. “I will request those people who are feeling ashamed to focus on Bihar; he is a leader; he should better visit Bihar. Give your suggestion; the Bihar government will listen to you,” he said, speaking to reporters.

Mr. Lakhendra also suggested the Union minister to directly hold talks with the government over resolving issues concerning Bihar, instead of using the media to convey his message.

Defending the Samrat Choudhary government over rising crime, Mr. Lakhendra said, “Strict action is being taken in all criminal incidents, including half-encounter of the criminals.

Janata Dal (United) leader and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary also defended the government when asked about Chirag Paswan’s anger over law and order situation. “He is part of the government, and we are running it effectively. The government also accepts that a few incidents have taken place in Bihar, which is a matter of concern for us. More importantly, in every case, criminals have been arrested, and action has been taken after identifying the culprits,” Mr. Choudhary said.

He added that NDA has a declared policy of zero tolerance towards crime and former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has established the rule of law in Bihar, and the current Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary is carrying that vision forward.

Opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Leader Tejashwi Yadav slammed LJP (RV) leader for his statement asserting that he is part of the government and will do nothing. “Being a part of the government, he should take the responsibility or tender his resignation,” Mr. Yadav said, speaking to the media in Patna.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Yadav posted the video of Mr. Chirag Paswan from the said private event and also the statement of Bihar BJP Rajya Sabha member Shambhu Saran Patel in which both spoke about failed law and order. In the video, Mr. Patel said that law and order has completely collapsed in Bihar and policing has crumbled. He even said that Kartikey Kumar Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Patna, did not pick up his call about filing an FIR for a girl victim.

“They have won the election through trickery, but how will they win the people’s hearts? The people had already rejected them. What is the point of becoming a central minister or MP like this when no one in your own government even listens to you? Think about it, why do the Prime Minister and Chief Minister or any official listen to them? Because everyone knows that the people did not choose them; they themselves selected these people with the help of the Election Commission,” Mr. Yadav wrote on X.
