Three persons, including a woman, drowned and three others were feared missing after a flash flood swept through Kottappuzha at T.K. Colony near Pookkottumpadam in Malappuram district on Sunday evening.
The bodies of two men and a woman were recovered by search personnel. Revenue Minister A.P. Anilkumar reached the spot and supervised the search and rescue operations.
Aryadan Shoukath, MLA, too joined the rescue efforts. The search was suspended for the night because of the adverse conditions and the risk involved in conducting the operation in darkness.
The search will resume at 6 a.m. on Monday, Mr. Shoukath said. Personnel of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Fire and Rescue Services and local residents will take part in the operation, he said.
Perinthalmanna Sub-Collector Sakshi Mohan, Nilambur Tahsildar M.P. Sindhu, Amarambalam panchayat president V.P. Afeefa and district panchayat member N.A. Kareem also reached the site.
