Girl students’ hair cut while asleep at Bheemunipatnam KGBV; fellow students’ act triggers security scare

Posted on September 20, 2026 By admin

Tension prevailed at the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) school in Krishnapuram of Bheemunipatnam mandal, after the hair of several Class IX girl students was allegedly cut while they were asleep on Saturday (September 19, 2026) night, triggering concerns over security at the residential school.

The incident came to light on Sunday (September 20, 2026) morning when a few students complained that their hair had been cut during the night. The reports initially led to speculation that outsiders might have entered the school premises, raising concerns over the safety and security of the students and creating panic on the campus.

The incident soon gained attention on social media, further intensifying concerns among parents and the local community. Bheemunipatnam MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao rushed to the school after learning about the incident and took stock of the situation.

Bheemunipatnam Inspector G. Divakar and other police personnel also visited the school and conducted an inspection. As part of their inquiry, the police and school authorities subsequently learnt that the incident was allegedly committed by some fellow girl students, ruling out the initial suspicions of outsiders entering the premises.

The situation at the school campus returned to normal after the circumstances surrounding the incident came to light.

Mr. Divakar said that the school authorities and the police had counselled the students involved in the incident. The police and school management were also looking into the circumstances that led to the hair-cutting incident, he added.
