Winners of The Hindu Downtown’s ‘Maya Kannan’ – Janmashtami Contest 2026, organised for children in the age group of three to eight years, were felicitated at an event held at the A.M. Jain College Auditorium in Meenambakkam.
As part of the contest, children dressed up as little Krishna or Radha and danced, sang, and recited slokas in praise of the deity. The contest received enormous response with over 1,000 children from Chennai participating.
The Chennai winners are Harnitha Shree, Laasya Pradeep, Avanthikaa Bala Vinoth, Rishyan Harit, Varun Krishnan, Makshita B., V. Swastika, S. Vidhuna, Shraddha Srinivasan, Ramaraghav, Himansh, D. Harish, Joshvikaa S., A. Krisshia, and R. Diya.
The winners were felicitated by P. Suresh Chand Chordia, member, Management Committee, A.M. Jain Educational Institutions; Vinod Balaji, Managing Director, Narpavi; S. Ramalingam, Insurance Advisor and Mutual Fund Distributor; Praveen Lalwani, Managing Director, Hilaptop; and Balaji, Store Manager, Poorvika Appliances.
Gopuram Turmeric Powder & Kumkum was the title partner for the event. Dheepam Lamp Oil and Poorvika Appliances were the co-presenting partners. Narpavi, S. Ramalingam, Insurance Advisor and Mutual Fund Distributor, and T.T. Asafoetida were the associate partners. Cafe Coffee House was the food partner, while A.M. Jain College, Meenambakkam, was the venue partner. Repute Water was the water partner.
