Amazon’s ultra-fast delivery service Amazon Now has crossed $1 billion in annualised gross sales in India, driven by a sharp increase in orders since its launch, the company said on Tuesday.

Orders on Amazon Now have doubled every quarter since the service was introduced, making it the fastest-growing e-commerce business in Amazon India’s history, according to the company.

The service delivers orders within minutes through a network of more than 750 micro-fulfilment and urban fulfilment centres. Amazon has expanded Amazon Now to four times as many cities in less than 10 weeks, taking its minutes-based delivery service to more than 60 Indian cities and towns ahead of the festive season.

Beyond major metropolitan markets, Amazon Now is available in smaller cities and towns including Padubidri, Tirupati, Guntur, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Vellore, Dharwad, Warangal and Berhampur, among others.

“In a short period of time, Amazon Now has crossed $1 billion in annualized gross sales in India, making it the fastest-growing e-commerce business unit in Amazon India’s history,” said Samir Kumar, Country Manager, Amazon India.
