Nearly 1.20 lakh cases resolved during Lok Adalats in Nellore district

Nearly 1.20 lakh cases resolved during Lok Adalats in Nellore district

Posted on September 11, 2026 By admin

As many as 1,19,676 cases were resolved in SPSR Nellore district through compromise this year till August 30, 2026, said A. Narasimha Murthy, Principal District & Sessions Judge. He revealed that 66,425 cases were settled during National Lok Adalat held on March 14, 2026, and 53,251 cases were settled during the one held on July 11, 2026.

Noting that there are more than 54,590 cases — comprising 22,988 civil cases and 29,742 criminal cases — currently pending across all courts in the district, he said another National Lok Adalat will be held on Saturday (September 12, 2026).

The Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, provides an opportunity to resolve various litigation matters — including civil cases and compoundable criminal cases — through Lok Adalat. Matters such as bank dues, municipal works, water bill arrears, and BSNL-related issues could be resolved through Lok Adalat before a formal lawsuit is filed in court.

“The pre-litigation cases benefit both the public and government institutions. The upcoming National Lok Adalat serves as an effective platform for providing speedy justice to the public while also saving their time and money,” Mr. Narasimha Murthy said, appealing the people of the district to make good use of this event.

With the directives of the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) and the Andhra Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (under the aegis of the AP High Court), four National Lok Adalats are organised annually. Two National Lok Adalats have already been held this year — on March 14 and July 11 — and the third is scheduled to be held on September 12.
