Two NDMC employees killed on way home, SUV driver arrested

Posted on September 3, 2026 By admin

Two employees of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) were killed after the motorcycle they were riding slipped on the road, causing them to fall, and an SUV ran over them in Delhi Cantonment on Wednesday evening, an officer said on Thursday.

The SUV driver, identified as Bhupendra, 26, a resident of Jhajjar, Haryana, was arrested the same day and booked under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106(a) (death due to a rash or negligent act) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Delhi Cantonment police station. He owns a milk booth in Rohini, said the officer.

The deceased were identified as Sukhbir Singh, 55 and Anju Singh, 45. They were on the way home from their office on Lodhi Road to their residence in Dwarka, Sector 1, around 5 p.m. when the SUV hit the motorcycle near the IOC traffic light.

An employee at the Delhi Cantonment police station, who was returning from duty, noticed the accident and alerted the police.

A preliminary inquiry found that the motorcycle had slipped on the road, and the SUV had run over them. The two were rushed to a hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival. Further investigation is under way.
