Government Medical College Hospital, Ernakulam, has started emergency and advanced trauma care.
One more cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon has been appointed to the Cardiovascular and Thoracic department, which will enhance the services offered at the hospital, said Dr. Anoop Joseph, medical superintendent, Government Medical College Hospital, Ernakulam.
The hospital has also started offering vascular emergency surgery for trauma patients, he said.
The service will be offered at a much lower cost than in the private sector, said Dr. Ravikrishnan J., Associate Professor and head of the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery.
“We hope to bring down the waiting period for cancer patients for procedures through the new service offered at the hospital,” said Dr. Ravikrishnan.
Plans are afoot to provide round-the-clock surgical support for thoracic trauma and vascular injuries. There are also plans to offer vascular graft surgeries, said Dr. Joseph.
