A dispute over the setting up of a new FASTag sales counter near the toll plaza at Vettichira near Valanchery on National Highway 66 escalated into an alleged stabbing on Wednesday (September 2, 2026). Three persons were injured in the incident.
The clash involved two groups of FASTag distributors from Thrissur and Palakkad districts. The dispute began when one group tried to set up a new counter near the toll plaza, in addition to an existing counter.
An argument between the groups soon turned into a fight and then a reported stabbing. The injured were taken to hospitals at Valanchery.
The police have registered a case and begun an investigation.
