As deadline for completing e-KYC nears, consumers line up at gas agencies

As deadline for completing e-KYC nears, consumers line up at gas agencies

Posted on August 25, 2026 By admin

With the deadline (August 31) for completing e-KYC nearing, consumers who have not submitted their biometrics are rushing to their respective gas agencies. In some cases, consumers find that they are unable to link their Aadhaar with the 14-digit long liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) IDs, which is the first step in the e-KYC process.

“A few months ago, I contacted the gas agency, and they said they would send a person to our house since I cannot travel much. He did not come. Then I tried doing it on my own at home but was not able to.  In fact, the LPG ID printed on the receipt given by the gas agency was wrong. I had to find out my LPG ID by submitting my registered mobile number on the website,” said a super senior citizen consumer.

In other cases, consumers who had moved to different areas and switched agencies, could not complete the process. “The new agency has been continously asking me to complete the e-KYC. However, that has not been possible as my Aadhaar seemed to be linked with the old agency. Now with help from someone in the oil marketing company, the process has been completed,” said the 74-year-old consumer.

A distributor said that the Indane app was down last week for three days for updation and this week it was down for a day and a half. “We are getting a lot of families whose relatives have died. They are unable to complete the e-KYC process as the deceased person’s Aadhaar cannot be used. We are taking steps to change the names in the connections and help the consumers,” said another distributor. Many consumers who were seeing others having completed their e-KYC process are going back to the agencies worried that they have not done it. “You can check it in the company apps,” said a distributor.
