Chittoor Sugar Factory marriage hall reopens after renovation

Chittoor Sugar Factory marriage hall reopens after renovation

Posted on August 24, 2026 By admin

The renovated Kalyana Mandapam of the Chittoor Cooperative Sugar Factory at Doddipalle was inaugurated here on Monday, providing residents with an upgraded venue for weddings and other auspicious functions.

Chittoor MP D. Prasada Rao, MLA Gurajala Jagan Mohan, Joint Collector Adarsh Rajendran and Chittoor Urban Development Authority (CHUDA) Chairperson Kathari Hemalatha attended the programme.

Mr. Rajendran said that the marriage hall was in poor condition when he inspected it, with seepage, inadequate lighting and fans, and faded paint. As the facility had enjoyed considerable popularity in the past, efforts were made to restore its former appeal. Around ₹20 lakh was spent on basic renovation works after consultations with the Collector and by utilising available institutional funds, the Joint Collector said, adding that it would be a boon to the residents of Chittoor.

Meanwhile, MLA Jagan Mohan said the facility had adequate parking, a dining hall, rooms, and a spacious function hall, making it suitable for various events. He urged residents to fully utilise the hall.

Officials said increased patronage would generate revenue for the sugar factory and help support its employees. They also stressed the need to address the cooperative sugar factory’s long-pending financial and operational problems.
