ABVP opposes move to turn RIE’s PM SHRI school into Kendriya Vidyalaya

ABVP opposes move to turn RIE’s PM SHRI school into Kendriya Vidyalaya

Posted on August 19, 2026 By admin

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Mysuru, has strongly opposed the proposal to convert the PM SHRI Experimental School on the Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Mysuru, campus into a Kendriya Vidyalaya.

The Parishad submitted a memorandum to the Director of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) through the RIE Principal, urging the authorities to reconsider the proposal.

In a statement, the Parishad said the PM SHRI Experimental School serves as an important platform for teacher training, demonstrating innovative teaching methods, educational experimentation and research activities. Converting the school into a Kendriya Vidyalaya could undermine these core academic objectives, it said.

It pointed out that Mysuru already has a Kendriya Vidyalaya and said it would welcome the establishment of an additional Kendriya Vidyalaya at a separate suitable location if there was a need. However, it strongly opposed using the RIE’s experimental school for the purpose.

Parishad Mysuru district convener Nandan Kumar H. urged the authorities to immediately reconsider the proposal, keeping in mind RIE’s academic environment, the purpose of the experimental school and the interests of students.

If the authorities failed to respond positively to the demand, the Parishad would launch a strong protest against the proposal, he said.
