Anti-drug pledge administered at gram sabha meetings

Gram sabha meetings were held in villages of Dindigul and Theni districts as part of the 80th Independence Day celebrations, on Saturday.

In Dindigul district, Collector Durgamoorthi presided over the gram sabha meeting held in Kunnuvarankottai panchayat. The residents highlighted various requirements such as road facilities, bus services, drinking water facilities, establishment of fair price shops and access roads to crematoriums.

The Collector assured that the necessary steps will be taken to address these issues and matters requiring approval at a higher level will be brought to the government’s attention to secure the necessary sanctions and proceed with the work.

The Collector distributed new uniforms to sanitation workers. She also distributed books to students. A pledge was administered on the theme ‘Cleanliness is Service’. Officials from various departments participated in the gram sabha meeting.

In Theni district, Collector R. Vaithinathan presided over the gram sabha meeting held at Ambasamudram Panchayat. Various issues were discussed at the meeting including administration, public fund expenditure, panchayat audit report and implementation of various schemes.

The Collector distributed new clothes to people and participated in a community feast. A pledge was administered against drug abuse. Officials from various departments participated in the gram sabha meeting.
