GMR Group Chairman Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao looked jubilant and emotional during the inauguration of the international airport of Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district on Saturday. Hailing from Rajam in Vizianagaram district, Mr. Rao has a lot of experience in the aviation sector.
The GMR group has constructed the new airport at Bhogapuram, the native district of Mr. Rao. The GMR group has constructed the airport six months in advance of the deadline of December, he said.
“The Bhogapuram airport will help spur economic activity in the region, like the Shamshabad airport in Hyderabad. I am very happy that the airport has been built in my native district,” he said and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for extending support for the quick construction of the airport.
Currently, the GMR group handles airports in New Delhi, Hyderabad and other places in the country.
