The Mangaluru City police on Wednesday destroyed illegal drugs worth ₹82 crore, seized in 59 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act cases across 16 city police stations at a unit of Ramky Energy and Environment Ltd. (Re Sustainability Healthcare Solutions Ltd) in the Kolnad Industrial Area in Mulki, under the supervision of a Drugs Disposal Committee.

In a press note, Commissioner of Police (CP) Sudheer Kumar Reddy said the drugs were disposed of in a scientific manner with permission from the jurisdictional courts. The consignment included 450 kg of cannabis, 43.26 kg of MDMA, 80 grams of charas, 880 grams of hydroponic cannabis and 1.2 kg of bhang.

Among the drugs destroyed were 37 kg of MDMA, worth ₹75 crore, seized by Mangaluru East police station in 2024; 4 kg of MDMA, worth ₹4.47 crore, seized by Mulki police in 2025; 106 kg of cannabis, worth ₹20 lakh, seized by Konaje police in 2025; and 111 kg of cannabis, worth ₹36 lakh, seized by Moodbidri police.

In the first seven months of 2026, the city police registered 87 cases under the NDPS Act and arrested 157 drug peddlers. They seized narcotic drugs worth ₹8.18 crore, including 148.61 kg of cannabis, 7.16 kg of MDMA and 1.70 kg of hydroponic cannabis. As many as 463 drug consumers were also booked.

Those with information about drug peddlers or consumers can share it with the police by scanning the QR code or by dialling 112 or 9480802321, Mr. Reddy said.
