Revanth to speak to Rahul Gandhi on opening Parliament, Assembly doors for Gen Z

Revanth to speak to Rahul Gandhi on opening Parliament, Assembly doors for Gen Z

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

Hyderabad

Proposing a new slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan and Jai Yuva”, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said the country should be ready to channelise the energies of Gen Z, giving them more political opportunities, and he would take the first step by proposing a reduction of the age for entry into the Legislature to 21 years to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Mr. Reddy said the issue would be discussed with Mr. Rahul Gandhi and AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge during his visit to New Delhi on Monday (July 27). Mr. Gandhi would be requested to discuss with INDI Bloc partners and other parties, the CM said during an informal chat with reporters here on Sunday.

Telangana government would pass a resolution in the Assembly in August this year, he said, adding that the Opposition could explore the opportunity to introduce it as a Private Members’ Bill in Parliament to bring pressure on the ruling party.

Mr. Reddy expressed his resolve to introduce a resolution regarding this in the Telangana Assembly in August this year, stating that several seniors in the party were in tune with his idea. “We will send the resolution to the Centre so that the proposal could be discussed along with the proposed Delimitation Bill, Women’s Reservation Bill and enhancement of Lok Sabha seats.”

“If needed, the proposal could be referred to a Joint Parliamentary Committee for consultations. Mr. Modi can no longer depend on one way communication like his Mann ki Baat on Radio but listen to the country’s voice.”

Mr. Reddy said that for Congress, the country was first and that is why it stayed away from leading the students’ movement lest the BJP would have termed it a politically motivated agitation.

Referring to the alleged irregularities in Intermediate valuation during the BRS regime by Globarena, he said the cases filed were closed by the BRS government. However, the government has now sought a legal opinion on reopening the case based on a complaint from an MLC. The government would proceed strictly according to law.

Poll prospects

The Chief Minister made light of the survey reports claimed in favour of the BRS, and questioned whether a BRS sponsored survey predict Congress’s win? Its laughable that even our party’s surveys are being conducted and the outcome claimed by the BRS, he said.
