About 99 products, including 26 primary, 26 secondary, 21 tertiary, and 26 category products, had been identified from 26 districts of Andhra Pradesh under the One District-One Product (ODOP) scheme, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada said in response to a question raised by Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy in Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

Mr. Prasada said, “Udayagiri wooden cutlery (primary) and Paturu cotton silk sarees (secondary) have been identified as ODOP products for Nellore district and Etikoppaka lacquerware / wooden toys (primary), palm leaf (secondary) and Payakaraopeta silk sarees (tertiary) have been identified as ODOP products for Anakapalli district.”

“About 100 handloom weavers are engaged in the weaving of Payakaraopeta silk sarees. Since its identification under the ODOP scheme, a production value of ₹10.08 crore has been reported under the Handlooms and Textiles Department,” he said. The A.P. Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. organises district-level and State-level exhibitions and conducts training programmes for their promotion.

Several steps had been undertaken to enhance the visibility of products under the ODOP scheme, the Union Minister said.

For promoting ODOP at the international level, engagement with MEA and Indian Missions abroad, virtual buyer-seller meets, and participation in international exhibitions had been undertaken. Also, various ODOP products had been included for gifting at multilateral and bilateral meetings in India to popularise them internationally, Mr. Prasada added.

Further, the State government informed that the National Handloom Expos and State Level Handloom Expos had been conducted to provide marketing facilities to sell the products under the Handloom Marketing Assistance (HMA) component of the National Handloom Development Programme (NHDP), he said.
