Health Minister K. Muraleedharan on Sunday (July 19, 2026) directed an inquiry into the circumstances under which the Kerala Medical Services Corporation Limited (KMSCL) obtained corporate membership at the Thiruvananthapuram Tennis Club using public money.

The Health Department Principal Secretary was directed to conduct an immediate inquiry based on media reports that ₹19.13 lakh was spent on membership and related expenses.

The investigation is based on the assessment that such actions are a serious misuse of public money. The circumstances under which KMSCL obtained corporate membership, the details of all financial transactions made for membership and related expenses and the officials who took the decision will be investigated.

The instruction is to submit a detailed report within two weeks containing the further steps to be taken in the matter. Mr. Muraleedharan said that strong action will be taken against those responsible for misusing public money after identifying those responsible in the investigation.
