The first look of Rajkummar Rao from his upcoming biopic on Sourav Ganguly, Dada, was unveiled by the makers on Wednesday (July 8, 2026). It is Ganguly’s birthday today.

The poster is a recreation of an iconic moment of Ganguly, waving his shirt in aggression after defeating England at Lord’s stadium in 2002 to secure the Natwest Trophy. The poster was subtitled as, “He didn’t just play the game, he changed it.”
Ganguly played for the Indian cricket team from 1992 to 2008 and scored 18,575 runs in Test and ODIs, having a total of 38 centuries to his credit.
The film is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and shot by Siddharth Diwan, known for serving as the cinematographer for movies like, Trapped, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero and Qala, among others. More details about the plot and other cast members from the film are awaited.
Dada is produced by Luv Ranjan. It will be released in theatres on May 14, 2027.

Rajkummar was last seen in the dark-comedy, Toaster, which was released on Netflix and also starred Sanya Malhotra, Archana Puran Singh and Abhishek Banerjee in pivotal roles. The actor will be seen soon in another biopic, Prahaar, where he plays public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam. The film will be released on August 7 this year.
