Roads and Buildings Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy has announced the sanction of ₹90.20 crore for completing the construction of 14 long-pending bridges in 13 Assembly constituencies.

These bridges have been mired in delays for several years, particularly because of land acquisition issues. Of the 14 bridges, two are on State highways and the remaining on major district roads.

In a press release on Sunday (July 5, 2026), Mr. Janardhan Reddy said several bridge projects had come to a standstill in the past for various reasons, and they were being revived under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

He said two bridges were in Madugula Assembly constituency and one each in Anakapalli, Payakaraopeta, Pithapuram, Kaikalur, Bhimavaram, Gannavaram, Penamaluru, Darsi, Satyavedu, Gudur, Pulivendula and Jaggayyapeta.

The Minister said that of the 14 projects, the structures of 11 bridges had been completed in the past, but they remained unusable for lack of approach roads.

In the remaining three projects, both the bridge structures and approach roads were yet to be completed.

Mr. Janardhan Reddy said prolonged delays in land acquisition were the primary reason for these projects being stuck. Some projects were taken up under a NABARD scheme, but delays caused it to lapse before the works could be completed.

The coalition government decided to sanction the required funds to complete these abandoned projects at the earliest, he said. Though the State was facing financial constraints, the government prioritised these projects in the public interest, Mr. Janardhan Reddy said, adding that the objective was to make the bridges usable as early as possible.
