Officials of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) conducted raids on on 16 establishments and booked cases for selling stale and outdated food products.
Raids were conducted at Penuganchiprolu, Vatsavai, Vijayawada, Jaggaiahpet and other places in NTR district, and expiry-dated bakery products, non-vegetarian dishes and other material were seized, the FSSAI officials said on Sunday.
Joint Collector, NTR district, S. Ilakkiya imposed a fine of ₹5.65 lakh on the managements under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, said Assistant Food Controller B. Srinivas.
The violations include running hotels, restaurants, bakeries, sweet stalls, tiffin centres, biryani points and food courts in unhygienic conditions, and for operating establishments without a licences from Food Safety Department authorities.
“We have seized the samples and produced them in the Joint Collector’s Court, which imposed fines for possession of expired products, running establishments without FSSAI licences and in unhygienic conditions,” Mr. Srinivas told The Hindu.
