BRS will soon become ‘Harish Rashtra Samiti’: Komatireddy

Posted on June 28, 2026 By admin

HYDERABAD

Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Sunday took a swipe at the Opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), saying the party, which was earlier known as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), would soon become “HRS” or “Harish Rao Rashtra Samithi”.

The Minister also accused the BRS of attempting to stall development initiatives undertaken by the Congress government in Telangana, while asserting that the government was continuing to take up road and other infrastructure projects despite facing financial constraints.

Addressing a public meeting at the NG College grounds in Nalgonda in the presence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and other Ministers, Mr. Venkat Reddy accused BRS leaders of making baseless allegations of corruption against the State government for political mileage and media attention.

He said BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao and former Minister T. Harish Rao were resorting to a false campaign on corruption. “Having looted the State through the Kaleshwaram project and the Dharani portal, they assume that Congress leaders are also indulging in corruption, which is not true,” he claimed and dared Mr. Harish Rao to scrutinise the HAM road tenders floated by the Roads and Buildings Department.

Claiming that the previous BRS government had neglected Nalgonda district, Mr. Venkat Reddy said the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel project would be completed by August 2028, enabling irrigation to about four lakh acres in the district. He alleged that despite assurances made by former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, no major irrigation project was completed in Nalgonda during the BRS regime.

He also said that the Musi river rejuvenation project would help reduce pollution and address long-pending issues affecting people in Nalgonda district.
