A Bengaluru-based businessman was found dead in the residence of actor and former Bigg Boss contestant Krishi Thapanda at R.R. Nagar on June 24 night. The name of the deceased is Vaishak. He had been arrested in an alleged extortion and threat case, and later released on bail.

According to the police, Vaishak is a resident of Girinagar. He had been staying in the apartment at R.R. Nagar for the past few days. He was reportedly alone in the actor’s apartment when the incident occurred.

Sources said Vaishak had called Krishi shortly before the incident, but she was unable to answer as she was away in Nelamangala. He is also said to have sent messages indicating that he intended to end his life.

After noticing the messages, Krishi alerted his family members, who rushed to the apartment. However, by the time they reached the flat, Vaishak had allegedly taken the extreme step.

Police said they did not find any note in the house, or video message in his mobile phone.

Based on a complaint filed by Vaishak’s father, the R.R. Nagar police have registered a case of unnatural death, and begun an investigation.

Vaishak had come under the police radar earlier this year in connection with an alleged extortion case involving businessman Aravind Reddy. Police had arrested him after a threatening letter demanding several crores of rupees was allegedly sent to Reddy through a courier service.

Following a complaint by Reddy, a case was registered. Vaishak was arrested before being released on bail.

The case was linked to a long-running dispute between Reddy and the actor . In November 2025, the Rajarajeshwari Nagar police arrested Reddy, a film producer and real-estate businessman, on charges of stalking and harassing Krishi . He was detained at Kempegowda International Airport upon his arrival from Sri Lanka after a lookout notice was issued against him.

Police had then stated that Reddy and the actor became acquainted in 2021 during a cricket tournament in Sri Lanka and later entered into a live-in relationship. The actor subsequently distanced herself from him, alleging harassment and intimidation. A case was registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Meanwhile, following Vaishakh’s death, Krishi arrived to pay her last respects at the crematorium, but was allegedly asked to leave by members of Vaishakh’s family.

Police clarified that, as of now, no allegations have been made against any individual in connection with Vaishakh’s death. Based on a complaint filed by his wife, a case has been registered under Unnatural Death Report (UDR) provisions.

“It is a UDR case and there is no mention of suspicion against anyone,” a senior police officer said.
