Motorists travelling around the KBR Park on Sunday will have to navigate a new traffic pattern, with Hyderabad Traffic Police announcing a one-way traffic trial on key roads in Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills to facilitate ongoing flyover and underpass construction works under the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) project.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), D. Joel Davis, said that the trial run will be conducted between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, on roads surrounding KBR Park, where steel flyover and underpass works are currently underway. Traffic police said the exercise is aimed at assessing traffic flow and reducing congestion in the busy corridor.
As per the plan, traffic movement around the KBR Park stretch will be regulated through designated one-way routes, with motorists required to use lane changers and follow temporary signage installed by the Traffic Police.
Commuters travelling from the NFCL area towards Jubilee Hills Check Post, Road No. 36, Road No. 45, Cable Bridge and adjoining areas have been advised to divert via NTR Bhavan, Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital, Agrasen Island, Omega Hospital and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Junction.
Those travelling from Yousufguda and Srinagar Colony towards Jubilee Hills, Madhapur and Road Nos. 36 and 45 have been provided alternate routes through Indiranagar, Venkatagiri Junction, Road No. 10 and Al-Cazar, while another diversion route has been suggested through Annapurna Studios, NTR Bhavan, Filmnagar and Shaikpet.
Motorists travelling from the ITC Kohenur and Cable Bridge side towards Jubilee Hills Check Post, Panjagutta and NTR Bhavan have been advised to proceed via Road Nos. 60 and 67 before connecting to Jubilee Hills Check Post and Venkatagiri.
Traffic police said there will be no U-turns along the designated routes during the trial period and urged commuters to keep to the left lane and use marked exit points for smoother movement.
Officials have advised the public to follow on-ground instructions, use navigation applications for real-time updates and opt for public transport or carpooling wherever possible. Heavy vehicles have also been advised to avoid the stretch during peak hours.
The Traffic Police said the temporary restrictions were necessary to facilitate major infrastructure works and improve long-term traffic movement in the area. Motorists facing travel-related emergencies can contact the traffic helpline at 9010203626.
