MINI has strengthened its presence in India’s premium compact SUV segment with the launch of the all-new Countryman C, which will now be manufactured locally at BMW Group Plant Chennai. The launch marks a significant milestone for the British-born marque as the Countryman becomes the first locally produced petrol variant of the model in India.
Positioned as a larger, more practical and technologically advanced evolution of the iconic MINI formula, the new Countryman C arrives with a strong focus on design, digital innovation and everyday usability. The company says the SUV has been developed for customers seeking a premium urban vehicle that combines distinctive styling with family-friendly practicality.
MINI Countryman C is priced at ₹47.50 lakhs and comes in 5 colour variants.
Speaking at the launch, Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO of BMW Group India, described the new model as “a new kind of BIG”, highlighting its larger dimensions, commanding road presence and versatile cabin. He added that local production would strengthen MINI’s portfolio in India while enhancing the vehicle’s value proposition for buyers.
The latest-generation Countryman features a cleaner, more minimalist appearance with wider wheel arches, short overhangs and a prominent octagonal grille. LED headlamps and redesigned rear lights further contribute to its contemporary look, while selectable daytime running light signatures allow owners to personalise the vehicle’s appearance.
Inside, the Countryman C takes a major leap forward in digitalisation. The centrepiece of the cabin is a high-resolution circular OLED touchscreen, which serves as the hub for vehicle functions, navigation, entertainment and connectivity features. The new MINI Operating System 9 supports both touch and voice controls, while the MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant can be activated through the “Hey MINI” voice command.

The SUV also offers a range of connected technologies, including navigation services, remote software upgrades, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a digital key function that allows a smartphone to be used as the vehicle key. A head-up display, Harman Kardon audio system and an in-cabin fisheye camera designed to capture photos and videos add to the premium experience.
Comfort and practicality have received considerable attention. The cabin features adjustable rear seats that can slide and recline, while the luggage compartment offers 505 litres of cargo capacity, expandable to 1,450 litres with the rear seats folded. Premium sports seats, ambient lighting and sustainable interior materials further reinforce the vehicle’s upscale positioning.
Powering the Countryman C is MINI’s latest TwinPower Turbo petrol engine, producing 156 hp and 240 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch Steptronic Sport transmission, aimed at delivering a balance of performance, efficiency and driving comfort. Staying true to MINI’s heritage, the company says the SUV retains the brand’s signature go-kart-like driving character despite its larger dimensions.
With local manufacturing and advanced technology, the new Countryman C represents MINI’s attempt to broaden its appeal among premium SUV buyers while retaining the distinctive personality that has defined the brand for decades.
