A Delhi court on Wednesday (June 10, 2026) remanded the owner and accountant of Malviya Nagar B&B facility, which was gutted in fire on June 3, leaving 22 dead, to 12 days of judicial custody.

Judicial Magistrate Bhanu Pratap Singh of Saket Court sent Lavkesh Bajaj, the owner and accountant Jay Mishra to judicial custody on an application moved by the Delhi Police, which is investigating the circumstances leading to the fatal fire.

The police had earlier arrested the two, alleging violations related to fire safety measures and regulatory compliance at the hotel. Facility cook Keshav Negi was also arrested on June 8. Investigators have alleged that negligence on his part contributed to the outbreak of the fire.

Several other individuals associated with the establishment have been detained and questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.

Among the deceased were both people from different cities in India as well as foreign nationals who had travelled to Delhi for medical treatment or were accompanying patients admitted to nearby hospitals. Eyewitness accounts indicated that some guests jumped from windows in an attempt to escape the flames and dense smoke.
