School academic calendar nearly finalised

School academic calendar nearly finalised

Posted on May 30, 2026 By admin

A Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) monitoring committee meeting that met online on Saturday nearly finalised the academic calendar for the 2026-27 academic year.

An academic calendar with 800 instructional hours that come to 197 working days for lower primary classes, 1,000 hours for upper primary that includes three additional Saturdays as working days in weeks without six consecutive working days, and 1,200 instructional hours for high school with seven additional Saturdays as working days in weeks without six consecutive working days was mooted at the meeting.

However, this proposal has not been opposed by any teachers’ organisations and so is likely to be finalised and approved.
