The Yakshagana Kalaranga of Udupi has chosen Chandrashekara Damle, founder of the Tenkuthittu Hitarakshana Vedike, Sullia, for the Yakshagana Kalaranga award, 2026.
The award will be presented to him in memory of Talluru Kanaka Annayya Shetty at a function to be held at the Infosys Yakshagana Kalaranga Auditorium in Udupi city at 4 p.m. on June 5.
The award, sponsored by the Talluru Family Trust, carries a purse of ₹60,000.
Mr. Damle is a retired teacher, Yakshagana script writer and ‘arthadari’, and an amateur Yakshagana artist, a release from the Kalaranga said.
