Man held in Tambaram for sharing morphed photos of woman on Instagram, Telegram

Man held in Tambaram for sharing morphed photos of woman on Instagram, Telegram

Posted on May 26, 2026 By admin

The Cyber Crime Wing of the Tambaram city police arrested a man for allegedly morphing a woman’s photographs into obscene images and circulating them through Instagram and Telegram for money.

Police said the case was registered based on a complaint from a woman alleging that her photographs had been morphed obscenely and uploaded on Instagram and Telegram by an unidentified person. Following the complaint, the Central Crime Branch Cyber Crime Wing of Tambaram city police launched an investigation.

During the investigation, police analysed data obtained from Instagram and Telegram and identified the accused as Bhuvanesh Kumar of Somangalam, Tambaram. Further investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly downloaded photographs of women from social media platforms, morphed them into obscene images and sold them through Instagram and Telegram for monetary gain, police said.

The accused was later arrested and produced before a court. Police also seized a mobile phone and laptop allegedly used for committing the offence.
