Power cut 2026: How to complain in your city via helpline numbers

Major metro cities across India, be it Chennai or Delhi, is sweltering under the summer sun, with multiple cases of heat stroke being reported, especially among young children. 

Delhi has recorded its hottest May night in 14 years, with records being broken regularly, possibly due to the El Niño phenomenon.

Amid this heat stress, reports of power cuts from several parts of the country have also surfaced. With the demand for power increasing day by day, social media is flooded with people complaining about power cuts and sleepless nights.

Here are the helpline numbers by which you can complain if you, too, are facing a power cut: 

Dedicated national helpline:

You can call on the dedicated national helpline number, 1912, to lodge an electricity complaint. This works pan-India.

Keeping CA number handy

Keeping the Consumer Account number handy while making any power outage or power cut complaint always helps in leading to faster restoration of supply. It can be found on your electricity bill.

Chennai

If you are a resident of Chennai, you can contact 9498794987, which is the TANGEDCO centralised 24×7 customer care number.

You can also call 044-28520131, the landline number for the same.

Via WhatsApp: If the power cut is due to visible physical damage like a fallen wire or broken pole, you can send photo and location details to 9444371912 to complain.

Delhi

South and West Delhi

Residents can contact BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) can dial 19123 or 011-3999707.

Via WhatsApp: You can send a ‘Hi’ to 9999919123 and follow automated prompts to register a ‘No Power’ complaint.

Central and East Delhi

You can contact BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) by dialling 191229(toll-free) or 011-39999808.

Via WhatsApp: Add 8745999808 to your contacts, then send a “Hi” from your registered mobile number to access their outage services. 

North and North-West Delhi

You can contact Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited(Tata Power-DDL) by dialing 19124 or 1800-208-9124.

One can also give a missed call from your registered mobile number to 9619619124 to lodge a complaint.

Via WhatsApp: Message 7303482071. Format your message as NPSCA <space> your 9-digit CA Number to lodge a complaint. 

Lutyen’s Delhi

You can contact the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) by dialling 1912 or 011-49993555 to lodge a power cut complaint. 

Kolkata

Main city of Kolkata, parts of Howrah, Hooghly, and 24 Parganas(North and South)

You can contact CESC(Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation) by dialling 1812 or 033-22253333 or 033-35013333. 

Via WhatsApp: Message 8585079412 to lodge an outage or check status of complaint. 

Mobile App: You can use the CESC CAPS app to lodge complaints too. 

Rest of Kolkata, Suburban Kolkata, Salt Lake and New Town

You can contact WBSEDCL (West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company) via 19121 or register complaints via the Vidyut Sahayogi mobile application.

Mumbai

IMD issues heatwave alert for Vidarbha; Western Maharashtra and Marathwada to witness light rains

Western and Eastern Suburbs of Mumbai

You can contact Adani Electricity to lodge a complaint via 19122.

Via WhatsApp: Send a ‘Hi’ to 9594519122  and select the ‘power outage’ option.

South Mumbai and Mira-Bhayander regions

You can contact Tata Power by calling 19123 or 1800-209-5161 to register power outage complaints.

Via WhatsApp: Message 2267513000 to interact with the automated assistant.

Old Mumbai or South Mumbai(Colaba to Mahim and Sion)

You can contact BEST(Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport) by calling 19124 or 022-22856262 / 022-22754000.

Outages can also be tracked and reported directly on the BEST Enterprise Portal. 

Thane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan, and Dombivili

You can contact MSEDCL/Mahadiscom by dialling 1912, 1800-212-3435 or 1800-233-3435. 

Giving a missed call from your registered mobile number to 022-50897100 also works for lodging a complaint.
