Congress national youth wing secretary Srinidhi resigns after AIADMK MLAs join TVK

V. Srinidhi, the national youth wing secretary of the Indian National Congress who contested from the Singanallur constituency in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, has resigned from the primary membership of the party.

The move of the Congress’ post-poll ally Tamilaga Vettri kazhagam (TVK) to induct three AIADMK MLAs, who had exited the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), despite the Congress having maintained that it would not align with divisive forces, has raised serious concerns about consistency and clarity of political principles within the national party, she said. “I, therefore, seek clarity on the basis and reasoning behind this move, as it has significantly contributed to my inability to continue in the position,” she added.

Those who have already benefitted politically from the Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) appear to be taking such decisions without fully reflecting on the realities and sentiments of those who worked on the ground, she said, adding that this has caused deep anguish and a sense of disconnect.

“This is not just a resignation from a post; it is a response born out of conscience that can no longer accept the breakdown of trust between leadership,” she said.
