Rift in Malayalam actor’s association AMMA turns murkier as actor Ansiba alleges character assassination by actor Tiny Tom

The ongoing rift within the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) got murkier on Saturday with actor Ansiba Hassan accusing actor Tiny Tom and a section of the members of the forum of subjecting her to character assassination and making communal remarks targeting her. She cited the alleged harassment as the reason behind her resignation from the organisation on February 21. Ms. Hassan was the joint secretary of AMMA led by actor Shwetha Menon, who was elected as its first female president in August 2025.

Speaking to media, the Drishyam actor alleged that Mr. Tom had accused her of attempting religious conversion, besides spreading rumours about her personal life. She said she was informed of the alleged comments by another member of the organisation. She, however, said she did not wish to pursue legal action over the allegations.

She also accused the AMMA leadership of not supporting her when a woman executive committee member filed an alleged false police complaint against her.

Rejects allegations

Mr. Tom, meanwhile, rejected Ms. Hassan’s allegations. Responding to media in Kochi, he said the accusations against him were based on mere hearsay. “I am a person who works sincerely and speaks openly,” he told the media.

He exuded confidence that AMMA’s executive committee would take an appropriate decision on the matter.

Soon after the allegations erupted, actor Priyanka came out in support of Mr. Tom. She said in Kochi that Ms. Hassan should have discussed her complaints within AMMA.

Ms. Menon, meanwhile, told the media in Kochi that she received a complaint from Ms. Hassan mentioning the names of Mr. Tom and Lakshmipriya, a vice president of AMMA, on Saturday afternoon after the issue became a topic of discussion in the media.
