The Indian compound men’s team, comprising Ojas Deotale, Sahil Jadhav and Kushal Dalal, narrowly missed a bronze medal after losing to China in a keen tussle at the Archery World Cup Stage-2 in Shanghai on Wednesday.

The two teams were tied 234-234, forcing a shoot-off. As the tie-breaker ended 30-30, China, which shot two Xs against India’s one, was declared the winner in a battle for the bronze.

The results: Recurve: Qualification: Individual: Men: B. Dhiraj (seventh, 679), Tarundeep Rai (29th, 661), Yashdeep Bhoge (54th, 653), Atanu Das (67th, 643); Women: Ankita Bhakat (10th, 652), Kumkum Mohod (11th, 651), Deepika Kumari (14th, 651), Simranjeet Kaur (15th, 648).

Team: India: Men (eighth, 1993), Women (fourth, 1954), Mixed (sixth, 1331).

Elimination: Men: First round: Tarundeep Rai bt Mukhammadkodir Ergashev (Uzb) 6-2, Atanu Das lost to Mohd. Mishad Prodhan (Ban) 3-7, Yashdeep Bhoge bt Diego Conde Collar (Spn) 7-1, B. Dhiraj got byes (in first two rounds).

Compound: Elimination: Team: Men: India (Ojas Deotale, Sahil Jadhav, Kushal Dalal) got a bye (first round), bt Germany 238-230 (second round), bt Chinese Taipei 233-231 (quarterfinal), lost to USA 234-235 (semifinal), lost to China 234-234 (30-30*, Chinese archers shot closer to the centre).

Women: India (Aditi Swami, Pragati, V. Jyothi Surekha) bt Slovenia 228-227 (first round), lost to Türkiye 227-233 (quarterfinal).
