Seeman to introspect on NTK’s loss of vote share in Assembly election

Seeman to introspect on NTK’s loss of vote share in Assembly election

Posted on May 15, 2026 By admin

Naam Tamilar Katchi chief co-ordinator Seeman is introspecting on the performance of the party in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections and the way forward for the party.

While Mr. Seeman’s spontaneous speeches resulted in a steady growth in the vote share for the party from 1% in 2016 Assembly elections to 8.2% (around 36 lakh votes) in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the party suffered a significant set back in the recent elections with its vote share shrinking to 4%, securing around 19,72,537 votes.

The setback is mostly attributed to the spectacular debut of Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, which attracted a significant portion of the youth, taking them away presumably from the NTK.

Since the electoral loss, Mr Seeman, who himself was pushed to the fourth place in Karaikudi, has stepped back from meeting journalists regularly, a feature that made him a household name over the last few years.

Party sources said Mr. Seeman does not want to comment on every issue but only as and when the situation calls for it.

“The election results has given us a lot to think about. Mr. Seeman wants to understand what has happened and we are debating the way forward. Our strategy needs to change as well,” said a close aid of Mr. Seeman.

Another close associate said Mr. Seeman wants to observe how the Chief Minister manages the affairs of the State government in the next few months.
