A 66-year-old man was electrocuted when he came in contact with a live wire in Nungambakkam on Sunday.
The police said M. Krishnan, a resident of Guduvanchery, was working as an ambulance driver for a private hospital. Mr. Krishnan was proceeding towards the private hospital after dropping off a patient on College Road in Nungambakkam.
He stopped the ambulance for a break at around 4 a.m. near the Directorate of Public Instruction campus. As he got down from the vehicle, he came into contact with a live wire on an electric pole and was electrocuted.
The passers-by alerted the Nungambakkam police. A police team from the recovered the body and sent it to Government Kilpauk Medical College hospital for a post-mortem. The police have filed a case and are investigating.
