The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) will field five out of six qualified teams at the World Relays to be held in Gaborone, Botswana, on May 2 and 3.
India will compete in 4x100m men’s, women’s and mixed relays and 4x400m men’s and mixed relays. The women’s 4x400m relay team will not participate in the meet.
“Our focus is (4x400m) mixed relay where we have a far better chance and some of our women are injured. There is no point in taking athletes who are not 100 per cent fit,” said AFI spokesperson Adille Sumariwalla while announcing the teams at a virtual press conference on Saturday.
