Cadre of the Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist of Party India (Marxist) and the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) jointly staged demonstrations in Tiruchi on Thursday condemning the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA government for increasing the price of commercial gas cylinder.
The parties also condemned the Centre for its proposed decision to surrender 29,000 posts in the railway department. The demonstration in Tiruchi city was organised at Kora street in Woraiyur.
Among those who participated in the demonstration were CPI (M) urban district secretary Govi. Vetriselvam, CPI urban district secretary S. Siva and ‘Bullet’ Lawrence, VCK Tiruchi West district secretary.
Elsewhere in Tiruchi district, demonstrations were held at Musiri and Manapparai. The demonstration in Pudukottai Town was organised near the Anna statue.
