Chennai, which has remained a DMK bastion for long, has nearly voted the party out, if one were to go by the trends available as of 1 p.m. on Monday (May 4, 2026).

In the 2026 Assembly elections, for which counting began on Monday morning, the TVK had been ahead since the first round in most constituencies.
